What are the characteristics of self-leveling?

Why do you need to do self-leveling when paving PVC plastic flooring?

When paving PVC plastic flooring, the requirements on the ground are relatively high. The most ideal state is to do self-leveling first, and then lay it on the basis of self-leveling. So what is self-leveling? How is self-leveling done?

What is self-leveling? Self-leveling is a type of dry mortar used for leveling on the ground. Simply put, the self-leveling state begins with a dry mortar, which is then stirred with water to form a liquid, which is then paved and filled with low enthalpy. Although it is called self-leveling, in fact, it does not really rely on its own liquidity to level, or a certain degree of artificial participation.

Self-leveling is divided into materials and can be divided into gypsum-based and cement-based (this cement-based and cement mortar contain the same ingredients but it is not the same thing). Because the latter is waterproof and wear-resistant, it is mostly used for the surface layer, so our main protagonist is used for leveling of the mat; gypsum-based self-leveling.
Quick solution of construction The quickness of self-leveling is mainly reflected in two stages of curing during construction.

1, construction speed
Step1 base layer processing;
The base layer is a place that needs to be artificially adjusted to be roughly flat, too convex, smoothed; deep holes, cracks, repaired with waterproof mortar. Clean, free of grease, dust, and water.
If you are doing self-leveling in the bathroom, you need to plug the floor drain and so on.
Step2 Self-leveling dumping and paving After mixing the mortar with mechanical water, dump them on the ground at one time. Since the actual construction process, it is generally to dump a bucket of self-leveling, you need to assist the leveling, and then dump the next bucket, never dump too much at once. After dumping the self-leveling and the ground, the construction personnel should use the ruler to spread the mortar and evenly control the thickness.
Step3 Defoaming and exhausting Before the self-leveling and initial setting, the tool must be used to assist leveling. It is necessary to repeatedly roll with the defoaming roller to eliminate air bubbles and assist in self-leveling flow leveling. Curing speed Self-leveling After the leveling is completed, the surface begins to condense for about an hour. You can walk on people after 12 hours. If it is a PVC plastic floor in the bathroom, it can be brushed waterproof at this time. However, if it is to lay the floor, because it requires a higher degree of dryness, it still needs to wait 2-3 days.

02 durability
The same is the ground leveling, the cement that is closer to us should be cement mortar. Its flattening thickness is generally 25~35mm, very thick, and the drying speed is very slow. It usually takes 72 hours to brush waterproof, 7 days to lay the floor, and the cement mortar is easy to crack and hollow after leveling. In contrast, the gypsum-based self-leveling leveling is thin, does not sand, does not crack, and is especially suitable for rooms with short lifting frames or floor heating.
03 Flatness What kind of grassroots is the flatness qualified? The domestic standard is: the inner drop of 2m2 does not exceed 3mm, and the ground leveling is qualified. It can be detected with a 2 meter ruler. The result of cross measurement at the same position is that there is no visible gap, which is qualified! It is worth mentioning that the ground leveling is flatness, not the smoothness of the ground, the smoother it is, the easier it is to regain moisture, it is not a good thing.
04 Applicability Gypsum-based self-leveling is hydrophilic, so it should be self-leveling after being used in wet floors such as toilets, and then painted with water. After the waterproof coating is completed, it can store 30mm of water for the closed water test.

in conclusion
Self-leveling is a kind of dry mortar for ground leveling. It can be used as a mat leveling (padded underneath, with a decorative layer on it) or as a surface leveling; both gypsum-based (cushion use) ), there are also cement-based (multiple layers). When paving PVC plastic flooring, the reason for self-leveling instead of cement mortar leveling is because the flattening thickness is thin, the leveling error is no more than 3mm, and it is not easy to crack. Another point is also very important, self-leveling construction is fast, and curing is fast. PVC plastic floor covering is also very fast, and can be used after the paving, the use of self-leveling leveling will not slow down the progress of PVC floor covering!
